Our Home and Neighborhood

We moved from Boston to California in 2003 so that Ian could earn his graduate degree in Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley. We fell in love with the San Francisco Bay Area, and have earned good jobs and made great friends here.

We live in a quiet two-story cottage that's like a little oasis in the city. There are two bedrooms, one for us, and a guest room that will be the child's room. Upstairs we have an open living/dining area with plenty of space for crawling and playing.

Out back, we fixed up the patio area and put in a garden box. It turns out that it is too shady in the back for tomatoes, but the herbs are growing like gangbusters. Although it can be chilly at night in San Francisco, we love to fire up the grille and enjoy some barbecue dinner.

Our neighborhood is vibrant and diverse, known for its great burritos, artsy cafes, a classic ice cream parlor, and many fun parks and playgrounds.

The Bay Area

There’s so much about the Bay Area that we want to share with our child. We look forward to taking our child to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, the San Francisco Exploratorium, pee-wee soccer, swimming lessons at the neighborhood pool, and hiking in the beautiful parks. We would also like to share our enjoyment of food, taking a trip to the farmer’s market to pick out ingredients for grilled cheese sandwiches or visiting the cows, goats, and sheep at the farms of Marin and Sonoma.
